We are now offering Linux support to most open source operating systems. Most Linux based operating systems are free to download and use. The programs that are available for these operating systems are also free to use, and getting easier to install.
There is a lot more work yet to be done, for the everyday use of Linux OS but if you want to get started, you can download Ubuntu and give it a try. It runs off the CD so you do not have to install it. The interface is good, and there are hundreds of Linux based OS programs available that you can download for free.
There are other options available. I have been monitoring the Linspire (Lindows) program however, neither this program nor its service to download the applications are available for free. Also a yearly subscription is needed to run updates, so I do not recommend It. However if you would like to check it out, there is a free version of Linshire called freespire . Linspire based computers are available, and I am happy to let you know, that lenovo ( IBM) will be shipping SUSE Linux Enterprise 10.0 for $399.99 soon. So Manufactures are changing
